AfricanColours - Sketch Assemby: A real Dutch Treat Sometime last year I participated in an exhibition by the Sketch Assembly. It was led by Cape Town artist Andrew Putter and was titled Merry Company as the images were based on Dutch paintings of the Colonial era which depicted scenes of merryement and enjoyement being had by young people. He changed these by casting it through the lense of revisionist history and showed and equal and overtly sexualised relationship between the Dutch colonists and the Coloured slaves of the era. Read the review... ps I'm in "Hand On Boob".
